Marching Up: Meet

Our Promoted Employees

When a job-seeking Rajean Castro left her hometown and travelled 250 miles north to Manila, she wasn’t expecting much luck, being an undergraduate with zero job experience. But after a few years of doing household, nanny, and utility work, she found herself trading mops and broomsticks for computer sets as she found herself a new career path in Emapta.

The 30-year-old joined Emapta in 2014 as a utility worker, cleaning all the office spaces, disinfecting every doorknob, lifting gallons of water to fill up empty dispensers, and more. Through hard work, dedication, and quick learning, Rajean rose to the ranks as a utility manager before finally getting promoted to facilities and admin assistant – an actual office job she never thought she’d get.

“At first, there was a period of adjustment. My body is still used to the heavy work I was doing before as a utility personnel, but I’ve slowly adapted now with the computers. It helped that I was observing the staff even while I was cleaning the offices before,” shared Rajean who was promoted to her current role just last March.

According to Rajean, the initial plan was for the company to hire someone from outside the organization. However, the facilities and admin team saw Rajean’s skills, potential, experience, and familiarity with how Emapta’s offices and systems work – things that a new hire cannot possibly learn instantly.

It also helped that Rajean was a friend to all in the office. Even when she was still a utility personnel, she was able to forge solid working relationships with the facilities and admin team. And because of this, she was able to learn their work even just by observing and asking relevant questions. The transition to her new role was smooth and seamless.

Rajean has started the training for her new role while also already doing the actual work, checking emails, managing clearance requests, reservations, seat allocations, and doing reports. A welcome career upgrade, especially for someone who never expected to get an actual office job when she left her hometown.

Emapta: Where careers grow

But it was not just Rajean who got promoted this year. She is just one of the 40+ employees who made their own big leap in Emapta, proving that growth is always possible in an organization that places great importance on its people’s development and career paths. Check out the names and faces of our newly promoted colleagues.

The growth of the employees has always been important to Empata, which is why it conducts an annual performance review to determine which employees are ripe for the next big step in their professional lives. The organization wants its employees to reach their full potential, seize bigger opportunities, and have meaningful careers.

Emapta recognizes the fact that career growth does not just make an impact on the professional lives of the employees but also on their personal lives as well, especially today that most of the Filipino people are tirelessly working day and night for their family just to sustain a decent living during the COVID-19 pandemic.

To this day, Rajean continues to make her family proud as the breadwinner. She hopes to be an inspiration for her colleagues in Emapta who want to take not just careers but their lives to a whole new level. She believes that with hard work, dedication, and good relationships, nothing is virtually impossible. With Emapta backing everyone up, anyone can achieve their dreams.
